Running, Cycling, Triathlon, Strength, Other AI level: Model-driven adaptive Adaptive plan + chat AI only USD 19.9/mo · USD 189/yr pushes workouts to 3 devices

Athletica builds a plan from a baseline test and training history and recalculates it as fitness, fatigue and schedule change, using a Banister impulse-response model and critical-power-based zones. It imports data from Garmin, Strava, COROS, Wahoo, Concept2 and Intervals.icu, pushes workouts to Garmin, Wahoo and Intervals.icu, and includes an AI Coach that answers questions about the athlete's data but does not change the plan itself. One subscription covers all features at USD 19.90 per month or USD 189 per year, with a two-week trial.

Model-driven adaptive. A physiological or statistical model (fitness-fatigue, critical power, ML on the athlete's history) decides load and session type without a conversation. source

Scores

1–5 per dimension by the published rubric. Each score links to its evidence. Blank means no public evidence yet.

DimensionScoreEvidence
Plan quality4Methodology page documents a Banister impulse-response model, critical-power anchored zones, Workout Reserve and anaerobic speed reserve phenotyping with cited references; a marathon user on the vendor forum found race-pace predictions well off (t/4904). evidence checked 2026-10-13
Adaptation4Slowtwitch user saw next days lightened after going harder and hardened after an 'easy' rating; vendor documents missed-session re-planning and HRV-driven lighter sessions, but not illness. A March 2026 vendor-forum thread (t/4829) is split: some see daily adjustments, one saw none after a missed week. evidence checked 2026-10-13
Workout feedback4Workouts push to Garmin by power, HR or pace (a run 'worked perfectly' on a Forerunner; one Z2 bike power target was 'way off'); a user says the generated analysis 'picks up on all sorts of things and makes impressively relevant comments'. Vendor release notes document automatic post-workout insights since Feb 2025. evidence checked 2026-10-13
Coaching relationship2AI Coach answers in context of the athlete's data and explains adjustments, but the vendor states it does not modify the plan; forum users confirm it cannot change the schedule (t/4829) and a one-year user says it 'does tend to make mistakes' (t/4363). evidence checked 2026-10-13
Transparency3User says adjustments 'appear logical' and the original workout can be viewed to see what changed; methodology is documented, but a forum reviewer found 'fitness' and 'ramp' metrics opaque (forum.athletica.ai/t/4904). evidence checked 2026-10-13
Value for money3Single tier at USD 19.90/mo or 189/yr with all features; a TrainerRoad user said the price compared favourably with TrainerRoad plus a separate strength subscription. evidence checked 2026-10-13
Athlete sentiment3Mixed: TrainerRoad users praise analysis and Garmin push but criticise volume and repetitive strength sessions; Slowtwitch thread positive with a 70.3 AG win; vendor forum has both a 'two thumbs down' marathon review and a positive one-year review. evidence checked 2026-10-13
